In the Noble Quran, there are a total of 114 surahs, and each surah shines like a precious gem, offering guidance, solace, and spiritual nourishment to the faithful. Yet, not all surahs are created equal when it comes to memorising them. Some, like Surah Al-Fatihah, are recited effortlessly in every prayer, while others demand more time and dedication to commit to memory.
Thanks to the dedication of our users, during Ramadan 2024, we achieved remarkable milestones in Quranic memorization. With 4.5 million khatams completed, 299 thousand Quran lessons imparted, and the memorization of 1.16 million ayahs and 180 thousand surahs, our community’s commitment to the Quran shines brightly.
The team at Muslim Pro has developed this Surah Tier List to assist anyone who wants to start memorizing. Here’s a breakdown of surahs based on their memorization difficulty, starting with the easier ones and gradually progressing:
Superior Tier: Surah Al-Fatihah
Undoubtedly, Surah Al-Fatihah takes the top spot as it is recited in every rakat of every prayer, underscoring its unparalleled significance in daily worship.
Tier A: Surah Al-Asr & Surah Al-Kauthar
Surah Al-Asr & Surah Al-Kauthar are relatively short and straightforward, making them ideal for early memorization efforts. It’s okay to start with these shorter and easier surahs first, gradually challenging yourself to progress tier by tier.
Tier B: Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah An-Nas & Surah Al-Falaq
With their brevity and simplicity, these surahs are also commonly recited and easily memorizable. Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah An-Nas & Surah Al-Falaq are all really short surahs, but they serve as stepping stones for advancing your memorization journey.
Tier C: Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Kafirun, Ad-Dhuha

Tier D: Surah Yaseen, Al-Baqarah, Al-Waaqia, Al-Kahf
