Islam is often misrepresented in discussions surrounding gender and family roles, but a closer look at the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) shows that respect, love, and compassion are at the core of his approach. These values are deeply rooted in Islamic teachings, especially when it comes to the treatment of women and family members.

By following the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Muslims can strive to foster strong, supportive, and loving environments within their homes and communities.

Treating Women with Respect

The Prophet (PBUH) taught that the respect and honor of women are not only virtuous but necessary for maintaining a balanced and righteous society. In a time when women were often treated as inferior or denied basic rights, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made it clear that women deserve the same level of respect and dignity as men.

One of his most well-known sayings on this subject emphasizes the treatment of wives: “The best of you is the best to his wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.” (Narrated by Imam At-Tirmidhi)

AD 4nXcghRI0UxVDbboxvUYeHxY3 R xFBltMSM mDyX CxEFO XCBtH31hwtpHmLovMI46JWzSL9uU3lJeCAIPLBUVuNJ9IAY8FADXpkG3SHFhbbUxvMlt1hfrV kgbiGT6FAibfuuJLszzlX5XqnOLFBf9ciB9?key=UcnGuWrV79ewjjWolb1kkQ How Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Honored Women and Family

This hadith is a powerful reminder that a man’s behavior toward his wife is a reflection of his character. Treating women with kindness, fairness, and consideration was a key teaching of the Prophet (PBUH), and it extended beyond the marriage relationship. His example encourages Muslims to promote respect for women in all areas of life—whether they are mothers, daughters, sisters, or members of the community. By upholding the dignity of women, the Prophet (PBUH) demonstrated that gender equality is a fundamental aspect of Islamic teachings.

Caring for Family

Family is the cornerstone of Islamic society, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) placed immense importance on maintaining strong family ties. He actively promoted the idea that creating a nurturing and supportive home environment is essential for personal and spiritual well-being.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “The best of you is he who is best to his family, and I am the best among you to my family.” (Narrated by Imam at-Tirmidhi)

AD 4nXfhcoy6dAU0slN1NeOf2ZgLKoUv1wz25ZUzoAL2TjZV7Z3XHHf C 8JYGwHAD9FlndRh5JzKsUopM0cW0s6A5OcicGceKwigQtYClzQ6TwZNpreGGH6OwMZ3EJk9SwsW5VmYwm9YciPHN cFnsciwRiIoY?key=UcnGuWrV79ewjjWolb1kkQ How Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Honored Women and Family

This hadith reinforces the belief that caring for one’s family is not just a personal obligation but a sign of moral excellence. Being a good Muslim includes being a good family member—someone who is attentive, patient, and kind to their loved ones. The Prophet (PBUH) exemplified this in his relationships with his wives, children, and extended family, showing immense compassion and care for each individual.

A Muslim household should be a place where love, respect, and mutual understanding thrive, with each member supporting one another in their emotional, spiritual, and physical needs.

Loving Daughters

In a society where daughters were often considered burdens, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) radically changed the way daughters were perceived and treated. He raised the status of daughters, teaching that they are a source of immense blessing and should be cherished and protected.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Whoever is in charge of (put to test by) these daughters and treats them generously, then they will act as a shield for him from the (Hell) Fire.” (Narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari)

AD 4nXevMrtqw5Rg59vSBGQY How Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Honored Women and Family

Through this powerful teaching, the Prophet (PBUH) reversed the negative cultural attitudes toward daughters, encouraging fathers to see their daughters as an opportunity for earning rewards from Allah. Loving and nurturing daughters became a way to secure Allah’s mercy and protection in the hereafter. This also highlights the broader Islamic principle that every child, regardless of gender, is a precious gift from Allah and must be treated with love, care, and kindness.

Showing Compassion

Compassion was at the heart of the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings, especially when it came to family. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was known for his gentleness and mercy toward all, but his compassion for children and family members was especially notable. He frequently urged his followers to show mercy to others, particularly to those closest to them.

He said: “He who does not show mercy (towards his children), no mercy would be shown to him.” (Narrated by Imam Muslim)

This hadith underscores the importance of fostering an environment of empathy and compassion within the family unit. It reminds Muslims that mercy is a reciprocal quality—if you show mercy to others, you are more likely to receive mercy from Allah. Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) life offers countless examples of him showing tenderness to children, comforting his wives, and supporting his family in times of need. Compassionate relationships are key to building a harmonious family life that reflects the values of Islam.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) left behind a timeless legacy of respect, love, and kindness toward women and family. His example reminds Muslims that women should be honored, family ties nurtured, daughters cherished, and compassion spread within the household.

These principles continue to shape the way Muslims view family and community life today. By following the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH), Muslims can create families that not only embody these virtues but also contribute to a more just and compassionate society.

The Prophet’s PBUH Deep Mercy Towards All Living Beings https://www.muslimpro.com/the-prophets-pbuh-deep-mercy-towards-all-living-beings/ https://www.muslimpro.com/the-prophets-pbuh-deep-mercy-towards-all-living-beings/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 07:08:00 +0000 https://www.muslimpro.com/?p=10848 The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, often referred to as the “Mercy to the Universe,” embodied a compassion that extended to all creation, including animals and the environment. This attribute is emphasized in the Quran, where Allah says in Surah Al-Anbiya verse 107:

image 2 The Prophet’s PBUH Deep Mercy Towards All Living Beings

Which means: We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a mercy for the whole world.

His life serves as a shining example of how to treat every living being with profound kindness and respect, embodying the deep mercy that defined his character. Through his actions and words, he taught us that compassion should extend to all creatures, human and animal alike, illustrating that true strength lies in gentleness and understanding.

His approach to life emphasized that mercy is not just an occasional act, but a consistent practice that defines our interactions with the world around us, guiding us to live with empathy and integrity in every moment.

The Prophet’s ﷺ Mercy Towards Animals

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ extended his kindness far beyond just humans, showing remarkable mercy and compassion toward animals as well. His teachings and actions were a testament to his deep concern for the well-being of all creatures, recognizing that animals are also part of Allah’s creation.

He emphasized that they, too, deserve care and respect, and he taught us that treating them with compassion is not just a moral duty but a reflection of our own humanity.

The Prophet ﷺ’s attitude towards animals serves as a profound reminder that mercy should encompass all living beings, and that our interactions with them should be guided by empathy and consideration for their needs and welfare.

The Story of the Camel

In a Hadith by ‘Abd Allaah bin Jafar, said “The Apostle of Allah(ﷺ) seated me behind him(on his ride) one day, and told me secretly a thing asking me not to tell it to anyone. The place for easing dearer to the Apostle of Allah(ﷺ) was a mound or host of palm trees by which he could conceal himself. He entered the garden of a man from the Ansar(Helpers). All of a sudden when a Camel saw the Prophet (ﷺ) it wept tenderly producing yearning sound and it eyes flowed. The Prophet (ﷺ) came to it and wiped the temple of its head. So it kept silent. He then said “Who is the master of this Camel? Whose Camel is this? A young man from the Ansar came and said “This is mine, Apostle of Allah(ﷺ).” He said “Don’t you fear Allah about this beast which Allah has given in your possession. It has complained to me that you keep it hungry and load it heavily which fatigues it.” (Hadith Narrated by Imam Abu Dawud)

This Hadith narrates an incident where the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) encountered a distressed camel while visiting a garden owned by an Ansari. The camel, upon seeing the Prophet, began to weep, making a yearning sound, and tears flowed from its eyes.

The Prophet, known for his deep compassion, immediately approached the camel and comforted it by wiping its head, which calmed the animal down. He then asked who the owner of the camel was, and when a young man from the Ansar came forward, the Prophet spoke to him about the camel’s condition. The camel had “complained” to the Prophet that it was being overworked and underfed, indicating that its owner was neglecting its needs.

The Prophet (ﷺ) then gently admonished the owner, reminding him of his duty to treat the animal with kindness and to fear Allah in his treatment of the creatures under his care. This incident highlights the Islamic principle that all beings, including animals, have rights and should be treated with compassion and justice. The Prophet’s intervention in this situation emphasizes the responsibility humans have in ensuring the well-being of the animals they possess, and it reflects the broader values of mercy and accountability in Islam.

Lessons and Application in Daily Life

From this story, several key lessons can be drawn that are relevant to our daily lives:

  1. Importance of compassion for All Living Creatures:

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized the importance of kindness and mercy toward all living creatures, reminding us that they, too, are beloved creations of Allah. As stewards of the Earth, it is our responsibility to treat animals with compassion and care, recognizing their inherent worth. We should be mindful not to overburden or mistreat them, ensuring that their well-being is preserved. This approach reflects the broader Islamic values of mercy, justice, and respect for all forms of life, guiding us to act with empathy and consideration in our interactions with the natural world.

  1. Being accountable and responsible:

Just as the young man was gently reminded of his responsibility toward the camel, we too must acknowledge our duties toward the animals and the environment entrusted to us. This responsibility extends beyond mere care; it calls for a conscious awareness of how our actions impact all living beings and the world around us. We must be vigilant in avoiding behaviors that could harm creatures, whether through the exploitation of natural resources or through direct interaction with animals. Our stewardship requires that we use resources wisely, treat animals with compassion, and ensure that our actions contribute to the well-being of all life on Earth. This holistic approach reflects a deep understanding of our role as caretakers, guided by the principles of mercy and respect that Islam teaches.

  1. Having empathy and sensitivity:

The Prophet’s ﷺ ability to sense and respond to the camel’s distress serves as a powerful reminder for us to be attuned to the needs of all beings, including those who cannot express their suffering in words. This deep empathy should inspire us to approach our interactions with heightened awareness and compassion, ensuring that we are always attentive to the unspoken needs and struggles of others. By cultivating this sensitivity, we are encouraged to act with greater consideration and kindness, not only towards animals but also in our relationships with fellow humans, fostering a more caring and compassionate world.
In essence, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ exemplified a life of profound mercy and compassion, extending even to animals and the environment. The story of the weeping camel underscores the importance of treating all living beings with kindness and respect, reflecting our responsibility as caretakers of Allah’s creation. By adopting these values in our daily lives, we honor the Prophet’s ﷺ legacy and contribute to a more compassionate and empathetic world, where every interaction is guided by the principles of mercy, accountability, and sensitivity.

How Tawakkul Can Transform Your Life https://www.muslimpro.com/how-tawakkul-can-transform-your-life/ https://www.muslimpro.com/how-tawakkul-can-transform-your-life/#comments Wed, 18 Sep 2024 03:39:11 +0000 https://www.muslimpro.com/?p=10809 In the journey of life, trust and reliance on Allah—known as Tawakkul—play a central role in guiding and enriching our experiences. Tawakkul is not just a concept but a way of life that can profoundly impact our peace of mind, emotional stability, and overall well-being. This article explores the essence of Tawakkul and why embracing it is beneficial to your daily life.

The Heart of Tawakkul: Trusting in Allah

Tawakkul, or reliance on Allah, is a cornerstone of Islamic faith. It involves putting complete trust in Allah’s wisdom and planning, knowing that He is in control of everything. A powerful Hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) illustrates this concept beautifully:

“I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: ‘If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, you would be given provision like the birds: They go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.’” – Narrated by Imam Ibn Majah

This Hadith highlights the essence of Tawakkul by comparing our reliance on Allah to the way birds trust in their daily sustenance. Just as birds venture out in search of food with the trust that they will find it, Tawakkul teaches us to trust Allah to provide for us in His perfect timing and manner.

Why Should You Embrace Tawakkul?

1. Peace of Mind

Embracing Tawakkul brings a deep sense of tranquility, knowing that Allah is in control of every aspect of our lives. This trust reduces anxiety and worry, allowing us to face challenges with a calm and composed mind.

2. Emotional Stability

By trusting in Allah’s plan, we can significantly reduce stress and emotional turmoil. Tawakkul helps us accept that we cannot control everything and that Allah’s wisdom is greater than ours. This understanding fosters emotional resilience and stability.

3. Strength in Adversity

Tawakkul provides strength during difficult times. When we place our trust in Allah, we find the inner fortitude to navigate hardships, knowing that He is guiding us and supporting us through every trial and tribulation.

4. Increased Faith

Practicing Tawakkul deepens our connection with Allah. It strengthens our faith, as we continually seek His guidance and acknowledge His role in every aspect of our lives.

How to Practice Tawakkul?

1. Make Effort and Try Your Best

Tawakkul is not about passivity; it requires active effort. Putting in your best effort in every endeavor is a form of worship and demonstrates your commitment to fulfilling your responsibilities. Whether in work, personal goals, or relationships, making sincere efforts is crucial.

2. Let Allah Do What’s Next

After putting in your best effort, it’s essential to let go of the outcome and trust that Allah’s plan is always best. This means accepting that His wisdom and timing surpass our understanding, and surrendering our worries and concerns to Him.

3. Keep Praying

Consistent prayer is a fundamental practice of Tawakkul. It keeps us connected to Allah, reinforces our trust in His plan, and provides spiritual support and guidance. Regular supplication helps to align our hearts with Allah’s will and strengthens our reliance on Him.

How Prophet Muhammad PBUH Exemplifies the Best of Character https://www.muslimpro.com/the-best-of-character/ https://www.muslimpro.com/the-best-of-character/#respond Sat, 14 Sep 2024 04:29:53 +0000 https://www.muslimpro.com/?p=10519 In Surah Al-Qalam, verse 4, Allah praises the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with the words:

How Prophet Muhammad PBUH Exemplifies the Best of Character

Which means: And you are truly ˹a man˺ of outstanding character.

In a hadith from Abu Hurairah r.a., the Prophet also said which means: “I was only sent to perfect good character.” (Hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad).

The personality and character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ continue to be revered by mankind to this very day. Our love for Rasulullah ﷺ is not solely demonstrated through outward emulation of his teachings; it is equally crucial to reflect on how his teachings have shaped our values.

As we reflect on the Prophet’s da’wah efforts in Makkah and Madinah, we are reminded of how he patiently endured hostility, injustice, fear, and the harsh campaigns of boycott against him. His character was exemplary—despite being ridiculed, humiliated, and treated with aggression, he remained unfazed. The Prophet ﷺ did not retaliate but instead approached these trials with a positive outlook, even making du’a for goodness and peace to be granted to those who transgressed against him.

One example is when ‘Aisyah (RA) reported that she once asked the Prophet ﷺ, “Have you encountered a day harder than the Day of Uhud?”

The Prophet ﷺ said, Your tribe has abused me much, and the worst was the day of ‘Aqaba when I presented myself to ‘Abd Yalâyl b. ‘Abd Kulâl, and he did not respond to what I sought. I departed, overwhelmed with grief, and I could not relax until I found myself at a tree where I lifted my head towards the sky to see a cloud shading me. I looked up and saw Gabriel in it. He called out to me, saying, ‘Allah has heard your people’s saying to you and how they have replied, and Allah has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you that you may order him to do whatever you wish to these people.’ The Angel of the Mountains greeted me and said, ‘O Muhammad, order what you wish, and if you like, I will let the two mountains fall upon them.’ I said, ‘No; rather, I hope that Allah will bring from their descendants people who will worship Allah alone without associating partners with Him.’ (Hadith narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

From the life of the Prophet ﷺ, we learn essential lessons in resilience and how our faith and morality come hand in hand to prevent negative desires from overpowering us. This also includes small acts of kindness, such as greeting one another or bringing joy into the lives of others.

Sayyidatina ‘Aisyah (RA) was once asked by an Arab Bedouin about the Prophet’s character, to which she responded, “His character was the Quran” (Hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Therefore, let us incorporate the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ into our daily lives. Let us strive to improve our character by adopting the best of morals. We should embody virtues such as tolerance, compassion for the less fortunate, benevolence, humility, justice, wisdom, sympathy, and love. If we truly love Rasulullah ﷺ, we must instill these beautiful values within ourselves and our families. Always reflect on our actions and ensure they positively impact others.

One supplication we can practice daily to achieve good character is by reciting this supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ مُنْكَرَاتِ الأَخْلاَق، وَالأَعْمَال، وَالأَهْوَاء‏

Allahumma inni a’uzu-bika min munkaratil-akhlaq, wal-a’mal, wal-ahwa’

“O Allah! I seek refuge in You from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations.”

Following the Perfect Example of Prophet Muhammad PBUH https://www.muslimpro.com/the-perfect-example/ https://www.muslimpro.com/the-perfect-example/#respond Mon, 09 Sep 2024 08:58:01 +0000 https://www.muslimpro.com/?p=10415 “Uswatun hasanah” is an Arabic term meaning “a beautiful example” or “an excellent model.” This phrase is used in the Quran to describe the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, highlighting his exemplary character and conduct as a perfect role model for humanity. Allah s.w.t. said in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21:

AD 4nXcZw14VBnFHLh5nc2 DnDXIZHtLMl10KAVMVJB9MsDJkyA4bjnCNIr9ZehG6fM5QX9dN HEbdcnIbPXXdGxDcpzJCNMY6gfj454z5seMi tnzTir3cNid94KFSlUa Jw kOkuzzaMX6vtmsoRi6 ndHJDn9?key=Tvvqd95ZKDY4jfS8bLTb1w Following the Perfect Example of Prophet Muhammad PBUH

Which means: Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often.

This verse underscores the Prophet’s role as the ideal example for all aspects of life. His character and actions provide a comprehensive guide for our personal lives, social interactions, and spiritual practices. We should therefore strive to follow in his footsteps and learn more about him. We can achieve this through reading the books of hadith, learning and appreciating the life journey of our Prophet ﷺ or even by watching educational videos about him.

Additionally, we should also engage in regular reflection and self-assessment, ensuring that our actions align with the values and teachings of the Prophet ﷺ. Among the perfect examples of the Prophet’s exemplary character is his unwavering commitment to kindness and compassion, even in times of distress.

One notable story that highlights this aspect of his character is the incident of Ta’if. After facing intense persecution in Mecca, the Prophet ﷺ traveled to the nearby town of Ta’if to seek support. Instead of receiving a warm welcome, he was met with hostility and violence.

The people of Ta’if mocked him and pelted him with stones, causing him great physical and emotional pain. Despite this harsh treatment, the Prophet ﷺ responded not with anger or vengeance but with a prayer for their guidance. He ﷺ said, “O Allah, guide my people, for they do not know.” This response exemplifies his remarkable patience and compassion, even towards those who wronged him.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ reminded us in two of his hadith of the importance of having good character. He said:

  • ‟There is nothing heavier on the scales (of good deeds) for a Muslim on the Day of Judgment, except for his noble character.” (Hadith narrated by Imam Tirmizi)
  • In another narration, Prophet ﷺ said: ‟I guarantee a home in the highest level of paradise for those of good character.” (Hadith narrated by Imam Abu Dawud).

In this life, we will surely face personal or professional challenges, such as dealing with difficult family dynamics or navigating conflicting opinions.

For example, if we are in a situation in which a family member disagrees with a decision we’ve made. Instead of reacting with anger or defensiveness, we should try our best to respond with calmness and empathy, actively listening to their concerns and seeking to understand their perspective.

By engaging in a respectful and open dialogue, we demonstrate patience and a willingness to find common ground, fostering stronger familial bonds and resolving conflicts amicably.

This approach not only reflects good character but also promotes harmony and mutual respect within the family. Through such interactions, we can embody the virtues of the Prophet ﷺ, creating a more supportive and compassionate environment in our personal relationships.

In conclusion, we should strive to practice empathy, patience, and understanding in our daily interactions, so that we are align with the perfect character and example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Lastly, Prophet ﷺ also taught us a prayer that could help us attain good character.

AD 4nXfy67bTTjlSmY6Q2a7VCUcQL6Rr3FpU5Cw6lGOG5S5LZBYMnVJjjIYTrKDCKDw tK28Ho2rqc9T3Bp2kXtFz2uJtmBGnyeIX1Yy0Hu3YMNy1GweWY9 WjJmH79KeikQLRC0g1jrUZ2 U1ok1dmfqrkF6reu?key=Tvvqd95ZKDY4jfS8bLTb1w Following the Perfect Example of Prophet Muhammad PBUH

Which means: “O Allah, please guide me towards deeds that are good, and a character that is good. There is no one who can guide me towards goodness, other than You.” (Hadith narrated by Imam al-Nasa’i)

May Allah s.w.t. grant us the strength to always follow in the footsteps of our beloved.

The Love Prophet Muhammad PBUH Had For His Ummah https://www.muslimpro.com/the-love-prophet-muhammad-pbuh-had-for-his-ummah/ https://www.muslimpro.com/the-love-prophet-muhammad-pbuh-had-for-his-ummah/#respond Fri, 06 Sep 2024 06:28:52 +0000 https://www.muslimpro.com/?p=10357 KnowingHim ﷺ : He Loves Us

The love of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for his Ummah is a profound and touching aspect of his character. His love for us went beyond time, extending even before our existence. This deep, unwavering love is evident in various aspects of his life and teachings.

One compelling story that exemplifies this love occurred during a significant moment in his life. The Prophet once stood before his companions, tears streaming down his face, as he spoke about his longing for his brothers. When asked by the companions who he was referring to, as they considered themselves his brothers, he replied, “You are my companions, and our brothers are those who have, so far, not come into the world” (Muslim). This statement highlights the deep emotional connection the Prophet felt towards us, his future followers.

Moreover, the Prophet’s concern for his Ummah is reflected in his countless supplications. He frequently prayed for our well-being and guidance. One such prayer, as narrated by Imam Muslim, was for the forgiveness of his Ummah on the Day of Judgment. Even in his final moments, the Prophet was heard murmuring, “Ummati, ummati” (My people, my people), showcasing his enduring love and concern.

Deepening Our Love for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Understanding the profound love that Prophet Muhammad had for us inspires us naturally to reciprocate that affection. Here are some actions we can take to deepen our love for him:

1. Learn about His Life and Teachings:

Engaging with the Seerah, the biography of the Prophet Muhammad , brings us closer to him by offering a profound understanding of his life, sacrifices, character, and the immense wisdom he imparted. This engagement not only enriches our knowledge but also helps us appreciate the challenges he faced and the virtues he exemplified.

By immersing ourselves in his life’s details, we gain valuable insights that inspire us to integrate his teachings into our own lives, thereby fostering a stronger spiritual connection with him and aligning our actions with his noble example.

2. Emulate His Character:

The Prophet is described as “an excellent example”. Allah mentioned in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21:

image 1 The Love Prophet Muhammad PBUH Had For His Ummah

Which means: Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often.

When we make an effort to embody the Prophet’s traits of kindness, patience, honesty, and humility in our daily lives, we cultivate a more profound and meaningful connection with him. This conscious practice not only honors his exemplary character but also allows us to mirror the essence of his noble qualities in our own behavior.

By integrating these traits into our interactions and decisions, we create a tangible reflection of his teachings within our hearts, fostering a deeper spiritual bond. This ongoing commitment to uphold his virtues enriches our personal growth and strengthens our relationship with him, helping us to live out the values he espoused and enhancing our overall sense of devotion and alignment with his life’s example.

3. Increasing Our salutations upon him:

Sending blessings upon the Prophet (Salawat) is a powerful way to express our love and admiration. The Quran instructs us in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 56:

image The Love Prophet Muhammad PBUH Had For His Ummah

Which means: Indeed, Allah showers His blessings upon the Prophet, and His angels pray for him. O  believers! Invoke Allah’s blessings upon him, and salute him with worthy greetings of peace.

Regularly reciting phrases like “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad wa ala aali Muhammad” can significantly increase our spiritual connection with him.

4. Follow His Sunnah in speech and actions:

Incorporating the actions and practices of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ into our daily routines is a profound way to honor his legacy and bring his teachings to life. This approach extends beyond formal acts of worship, such as prayer and fasting, to include everyday behaviors that reflect his character and values.

By adopting his practices in areas like proper eating manners, courteous greetings, and even how we sleep, we align our daily lives with his example. These seemingly small actions, when performed with intention, embody the spirit of his teachings and serve as a continual reminder of his guidance.

Embracing these practices not only pays tribute to his legacy but also transforms our daily interactions into opportunities for personal growth and spiritual connection, making his example a living part of our lives.

5. Teach and Encourage Others to send peace and blessings upon him:

Sharing the importance of Selawat with friends and family and encouraging them to make it a regular practice can deeply enrich their spiritual lives and foster a stronger connection with the Prophet Muhammad . By regularly invoking blessings upon him, individuals not only express their love and reverence but also invite the Prophet’s intercession on the Day of Judgment, which can provide immense spiritual benefit.

The love that Prophet Muhammad had for his Ummah is a testament to his unparalleled compassion and mercy. By learning about his life, emulating his character, increasing our Selawat, and teaching others about him, we can deepen our love and connection with him. Let us strive to honor his legacy and keep his memory alive in our hearts and actions. May Allah grant us the ability to love and follow the Prophet as he deserves.

Istikharah, meaning “seeking the best,” is a special Sunnah prayer performed to ask for Allah’s guidance in making choices or resolving dilemmas. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to perform Istikharah and seek clarity in your decisions.

What is Istikharah?

Istikharah is a prayer taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for seeking guidance from Allah when making decisions. It reflects a believer’s reliance on Allah’s infinite wisdom and knowledge, acknowledging that Allah knows what is best for us in all matters.

When to Pray Istikharah

You should perform Istikharah whenever you are faced with a decision and are unsure about the best course of action. This can include major life choices such as:

  • Marriage Proposals: Deciding whether to accept or pursue a marriage proposal.
  • Career Choices: Choosing between job offers, career paths, or educational opportunities.
  • Financial Decisions: Making significant financial investments or purchases.
  • Relocation: Deciding to move to a new city or country.
  • Personal Matters: Any situation where you seek clarity and guidance.

Ideal Timing:

  • Istikharah can be performed at any time when voluntary prayers are permissible. It is best to avoid times when prayer is discouraged, such as right after Fajr until sunrise and after Asr until sunset.
  • Many prefer to perform Istikharah during the last third of the night, a time known for the acceptance of supplications.

Repeat if Necessary:

  • You can perform Istikharah multiple times for the same matter if you still feel uncertain. Continuously seek Allah’s guidance until your heart feels settled.

Step-by-Step Guide to Performing Istikharah

Step 1: Make Your Intention (Niyyah)

Begin by setting a sincere intention to seek Allah’s guidance regarding your specific matter.

Intention in Arabic:

“Usolli sunnatal-Istikharati rak’ataini lillah ta’ala.”

Translation:

“I intend to pray the Sunnah Istikharah prayer, two raka’at, for Allah (SWT).”

Having a clear and focused intention helps prepare your heart and mind for the prayer, emphasizing your reliance on Allah.

Step 2: Perform Two Raka’at of Prayer

  • Start by saying the Takbir: “Allahu Akbar.”
  • Perform two raka’at (units) of voluntary prayer as you would in any other Sunnah prayer.
  • It is recommended (but not mandatory) to recite Surah Al-Kafirun (109) after Surah Al-Fatihah in the first raka’ah, and Surah Al-Ikhlas (112) after Surah Al-Fatihah in the second raka’ah.

Step 3: Make the Dua of Istikharah

After completing the prayer with Salam, raise your hands in supplication and recite the following dua:

AD 4nXc Wog2arvvGduPIMcvXPPVFj5dldRvffyHlt fGoi9gr6e6SjhKv04tte6P9FLVdC4sIwWyOhQ KMuHlOgLkqTDOWDV2gWTVeLfgeit0xPa5zQiotFROmesRP5rSBOiWh2XwKLGQ6SbaY5FZ MZgpVDlU?key= o How and When Should You Pray Istikharah?

Dua of Istikharah:

“Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi’ilmik, wa astaqdiruka biqudratik, wa as’aluka min fadlikal-‘azim. Fa’innaka taqdiru wala aqdiru, wata’lamu wala a’lamu, wa anta ‘allamul-ghuyub. Allahumma in kunta ta’lamu anna hadha al-amra (mention your matter) khayrun li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa ‘aqibati amri, faqduruhu li, wayassirhu li, thumma barik li fihi. Wa in kunta ta’lamu anna hadha al-amra sharrun li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa ‘aqibati amri, fasrifhu ‘anni wasrifni ‘anhu, waqdur li al-khayra haythu kan, thumma ardini bih.”

Translation:

“O Allah, I seek Your guidance [in making a choice] by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. You know, I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things. O Allah, if in Your knowledge, this matter (mention your matter) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and for my life in the Hereafter, then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge, it is bad for me and my religion, my livelihood, and my life in the Hereafter, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it.”

Tips for Making the Dua:

  • Clearly mention your specific matter when prompted in the dua.
  • Recite the dua in Arabic, and if you’re not fluent, you can read it from a text or recite it in your native language, understanding its meaning.
  • Maintain a state of humility and sincerity, truly seeking Allah’s guidance and trusting His decision.

What to Expect After Performing Istikharah

After performing Istikharah, you may:

  • Feel a sense of peace and contentment toward a particular decision.
  • Notice circumstances unfolding that guide you towards or away from the matter.
  • Experience dreams or signs, though these are not necessary and should not be overly relied upon.

Put your trust in Allah:

  • Regardless of immediate clarity, trust that Allah will guide you to what is best.
  • Proceed with the decision that feels most appropriate while relying on Allah’s wisdom.

Additional Tips to Enhance Your Istikharah Experience

  • Practice and improve your Quranic recitation to connect more deeply during prayers.

The Braille Quran Digital Pen Index is transforming the way visually impaired Muslims learn about Islam. This cutting-edge technology merges the traditional Braille Quran with digital advancements to make it more efficient for individuals to study the sacred text independently, thereby opening up opportunities for blind Muslims to self-learn about the Quran.

One of the key benefits of this digital pen index is enhancing the accessibility of reciting and learning about the Quran. The digital pen can read aloud the text it touches, enabling users to easily find and listen to specific verses or chapters of the Quran. This innovative tool promotes interactive learning by providing instant audio feedback. When a user points the digital pen to a verse, it reads out the corresponding Arabic text and its translation, helping users understand the meaning of the verses and facilitating deeper comprehension and reflection.

Memorizing the Quran is a cherished practice among Muslims. The Braille Quran Digital Pen Index supports this tradition by allowing users to repeatedly listen to specific verses, aiding in memorization. The combination of tactile reading and auditory reinforcement enhances the memorization process. The device is designed to be user-friendly, with controls that make it easy for visually impaired individuals to use independently. The Story of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) With The Blind Man https://www.muslimpro.com/prophet-muhammad-and-the-blind-man/ https://www.muslimpro.com/prophet-muhammad-and-the-blind-man/#comments Sat, 03 Aug 2024 05:43:45 +0000 https://connect.www.muslimpro.com/?p=9447

Allah s.w.t. mentioned in the Al-Quran in Surah Abasa verse 1-10:

Surah Abasa verse 1-10

Which means: He frowned and turned ˹his attention˺ away, ˹simply˺ because the blind man came to him ˹interrupting˺. You never know ˹O Prophet˺, perhaps he may be purified, or he may be mindful, benefitting from the reminder. As for the one who was indifferent, you gave him your ˹undivided˺ attention, even though you are not to blame if he would not be purified. But as for the one who came to you, eager ˹to learn˺, being in awe ˹of Allah˺, you were inattentive to him.

The surah begins with Allah addressing an incident involving the Prophet (peace be upon him). When a blind man, Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum, approached the Prophet during a discussion with the elite leaders of Quraysh, seeking guidance, the Prophet frowned and turned away. As he was focused on convincing the leaders to embrace Islam, seeing it as a significant victory for the Muslim community.

Allah then immediately revealed these verses as a gentle yet firm admonition to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The reprimand underscores the principle that in the eyes of Allah, every soul seeking guidance deserves our attention, irrespective of their social status. The revelation begins with a description of the Prophet’s reaction: “He frowned and turned away because there came to him the blind man.” These initial verses set the tone for a profound teaching moment, emphasizing that the call to Islam is universal and inclusive.

From these verses, several crucial lessons can be applied in our daily lives.

Firstly, it teaches us about the equality of all individuals in the eyes of Allah. Social status, wealth, or power should not determine the attention and respect we give to others. Everyone, regardless of their background, deserves to be treated with kindness, humility and respect, especially those seeking knowledge and truth.

In a hadith, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also said: “All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action.” (Narrated by Imam Ahmad).

Secondly, the verses highlight the importance of humility and the dangers of arrogance. The blind man’s sincere quest for knowledge contrasts sharply with the arrogance of the Quraysh leaders. This serves as a reminder to remain humble and open to continuous learning, irrespective of our own perceived status.

Additionally, these verses emphasize the significance of intention and effort in seeking knowledge. The blind man’s eagerness and fear of Allah are qualities that every believer should strive to embody. In our daily interactions and pursuits, we should prioritize sincere intentions and genuine efforts over superficial qualities.

Furthermore, the incident underscores the importance of prioritizing those who are genuinely in need. In our efforts to help others, we should focus on those who are seeking guidance and are open to receiving it, rather than being swayed by the allure of influential individuals.

In essence, the first ten verses of Surah Abasa remind us of the profound ethical and moral responsibilities we bear in our interactions. By embracing empathy, prioritizing sincerity, avoiding superficial judgments, practicing self-reflection, and valuing every interaction, we can embody the teachings of these verses in our daily lives. These practices not only align us with the principles of Islam but also foster a more compassionate and equitable society.
